Tameka Turner, Licensed Professional Counselor

“For these are all our children. We all profit by, or pay for, whatever they become.” -James Baldwin

I am a dedicated mental health professional with a passion for therapy and the healing it provides. Parents seek therapy for their children for a variety of reasons. Parent and child relationships can be a challenge at times. As a mother of 2, I understand the balance of life stressors, feeling overwhelmed, and feeling like you are not doing a good job. We all have those moments; my goal is for you to overcome your challenges and improve both you and your child’s mental health wellness.

I provide a supportive outlet for youth ranging from ages 12-17. My focus is in assisting clients in changing unhealthy thought patterns to overcome challenges in their lives, while encouraging and empowering clients to make meaningful changes and achieve their goals that they set for themselves. My goal is to help them recognize that their voice matters regardless of the circumstances or events they may face in life.  I will also provide therapeutic behavioral modification services and mental health education to reduce defiant behavior and enhance quality of life. I view my therapy approach as a collaborative team effort with the parents and children to work together by providing parents with mental health education, assisting with behavior modification training, and behavior modification plan.

I work with clients of all backgrounds including adults that may be experiencing challenges such as emotional and behavioral struggles such as anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, women’s issues, conflict resolution, LGBTQ issues, working through past traumas, improving relationships, navigating anxiety, and strengthening work/life balance, and other transitions.
