About KBC Therapy & Wellness

At KBC Therapy & Wellness, our mission is simple: Building Stronger Minds Together through compassionate, high-quality counseling.

We provide a supportive and welcoming space for individuals, teens, and professionals navigating life’s challenges—including trauma, anxiety, stress, and major life transitions. Our goal is to help you not only cope, but grow, heal, and move forward with confidence.

Our Story

KBC Therapy & Wellness was founded by Kenyatta Black, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in the State of Texas. After earning her Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, Kenyatta began her journey in private practice with a simple goal: to create a space where people felt heard, supported, and empowered.

Before entering the mental health field, Kenyatta spent eight years in corporate America in the telecommunications industry, where she developed a strong foundation in leadership and business. She later transitioned into counseling and started as a solo practitioner—never imagining the practice would grow into a group.

In 2020, with the support of a trusted clinician, Tamika Turner, the practice expanded into what is now KBC Therapy & Wellness. Today, KBC is a collaborative group practice built on shared values, clinical excellence, and a genuine commitment to client care.

What Makes Us Different?

We know that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so we’ve intentionally created an experience that feels approachable, supportive, and personalized.

      • Trauma-informed care: We understand how past experiences impact the present and tailor our approach accordingly

      • A warm, non-clinical environment: Our space is designed to feel comfortable and human—not cold or intimidating

      • Thoughtful therapist matching: We take the time to connect you with the right provider for your needs

      • A strong clinical team: Many of our therapists have been trained within our practice, ensuring consistency and quality care

Our Approach

We believe that you already hold the answers within yourself—sometimes you just need the right support to access them.

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Family Systems, while tailoring each session to meet your unique needs.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy at KBC is collaborative, flexible, and centered around your goals.

Our Core Values

At KBC Therapy & Wellness, our work is guided by a set of core values that shape every interaction:
