My name is Aliyah White, and I am an LPC Associate at Kenyatta Black Counseling. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas Southern University, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University, formerly known as Houston Baptist University.
As a therapist, my approach is eclectic, allowing me to draw from various theoretical frameworks. However, I frequently utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as foundational methods in my practice. I strive to incorporate techniques tailored to each client’s unique needs; for instance, if a client exhibits a preference for solution-focused approaches, I am inclined to adjust my methods accordingly.
I aim to create a therapeutic environment that is both relaxed and professional, fostering an atmosphere where clients feel comfortable engaging in open dialogue. While I prioritize maintaining professionalism, I also encourage discussions that alleviate some of the weight often associated with therapy. Nevertheless, I am committed to challenging my clients during difficult moments to facilitate their growth.
I believe that therapy should be a collaborative endeavor, and I maintain an open-door policy. My clients are always encouraged to express their preferences regarding the therapeutic process so that we can tailor their experience to best meet their individual needs.
